Vegan Orange Poppyseed Cake

Zesty, delicious, dairy free orange poppyseed cake.


  • 2 cups self raising flour
  • 1/4 cup vegan spread
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup soy milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/4 cup poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated orange rind / zest
  • Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 3 tablespoons vegan cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar


  1. Combine the melted vegan spread and sugar in a bowl and mix.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients (the poppy seeds and orange zest go in last) and combine - don't over mix this!
  3. Bake for 30-40 minutes on 180 degrees celsius.
  4. Allow to cool completely before frosting.
  5. Frosting is simple - just mix everything together.
  6. Top the cake with the frosting and enjoy.
