Vegetarian for everyone

2 March 2010

DETECTIVE would rather gnaw off her arm than give up eating meat, but she's impressed by a new website offering vegetarians a one-stop shop for recipes, restaurant reviews and news.

Vegeterranean is edited by Canberra journalist Charlotte Harper who, with her mother, food columnist Diana Lampe, has created a comprehensive site offering everything from info on the best vegetarian cookbooks and restaurant recommendations to recipes with a sunny Mediterranean flair.

Detective is sorely tempted by the site's delicate lemon and sugar-dusted crepes, and has designs on Lampe's tempting saffron risotto arancini and mini corn fritters, too. The pair hope to expand the site to introduce more international content. Even better, they are donating 50 per cent of any profits to charities reflecting their philosophy.
