Domino’s launches three new cheesy vegan pizzas in Australia

8 January 2018

It's a good time to be vegan in the UK.

We've got vegan kebabs, vegan fried chicken, and a plethora of dairy-free milk being offered in coffee shop chains.

Hell, just today, supermarket giant Tesco launched a brand new plant-based range featuring loads of sarnies, wraps and ready meals.

When it comes to pizza, lots of independent pizza places have been offering vegan cheese for years (*nods to Basilico and Firezza in London*) with the mainstream mavens coming in slowly but surely.

Zizzi were the first major restaurant chain to offer cheesy vegan pizzas back in 2016, while Pizza Express started offering vegan cheese last summer, with Pizza Hut announcing the addition of vegan cheese to their menu at the end of 2017.

When we saw the news that Domino's were launching vegan pizza today, we were overjoyed – only to be knocked back down to to earth when we saw it was only in Australia.

Yup, lucky plant-based pizza fans in Oz can now order not one, but three vegan pizzas.

Domino's Australia vegan pizzas

Vegan margherita – vegan mozzarella and fresh tomato with oregano.

Vegan avocado veg – vegan mozzarella, avocado, fire-roasted peppers, mushrooms, red onion, peppers, topped with spring onion.

Vegan spicy veg trio – vegan mozzarella, baby spinach, fresh tomato, red onion, topped with chilli flakes.

You can also swap out regular mozzarella for vegan mozzarella on any of their pizzas for $2.95 (£2.17), which is perfect for creating your own (or for the lactose intolerant).

However you can't substitute ingredients on the vegan pizzas, or do 'half and half'.

The best part is that the pizzas aren't made using any old vegan cheese – they're made using the Follow Your Heart brand, which is definitely a top tier vegan cheese.
